The queue is displayed in wait time order. This is the estimated start time of the person.
The estimated start is generally simple because people are in order but in reality people will want to wait for a specific staff member resulting in a slightly longer wait.
Asking for a staff member: Longer wait time because the system can only allocated to that staff. The fastest way for clients to be served is to select "Any".
Staff member runs early / late: Each time a client is started or finished, we check the status of the queue and move people earlier or later. Generally these changes are small incrementatal changes.
Out of order: If the first client is not there or for some business reason a later client is started early we will update the queue. Of course the people who were before this client will be moved down the queue.
SLIKR records the advised start time for all clients when they check-in. As the queue changes we show within Queue Manager the time difference for people with a start earlier or later than advised.
Waiting for a staff member
If clients want to wait for a staff member we allow that. The impact to their wait is that we cannot allocated them to any other staff in the shop.
We will aways process people in the order they are on the queue.
If the requested "Staff A" finishes a client earlier than expected. The system may bring an earlier clients onto the stadd members queue, this means the person was was expecting to be next needs to wait a little longer to be served. This is exactly the what would have happened in a walk-in business.
1. Make a judgement call when calling the first person, if a another staff member is about to finish, let them know that staff member will take them in a few minutes and start the requested person out of order.
2. Explain the person with a longer wait the other person was first, did they still want to wait or start them with another staff, just select that staff member name and the system will adjust.
Staff Request clients move to top - when shop is behind!
A shop can run behind time. Every shop has those days when things run late or some shops try to keep a low wait time by setting unrealistic times for their staff. Setting unrealistic service times just makes the problem worse and will lead to unhappy clients. We will remove shops who are consistently out on service and wait times.
If the whole shop runs behind and multiple people have the same estimated start time. We display the staff requests at the top of the queue. This is because they cannot be allocated to anyone else.
Apart from the scenarios above the queue display is very standard and a core part of SLIKR. The ability for clients to see their wait time smooths the flow of clients into the shop. If you are ever in doubt over the wait time, please log a service request and we can confirm the client booking details.
